Kidz Planet Preschool: Our Philosophy
Kidz Planet Preschool is committed to promoting positive, respectful, reciprocal relationships with children, families/whanau, staff and the local community. Kidz Planet Preschool embraces and values whanaungatanga in our teaching practices. In our mixed age Centre, we affirm the principles of tuakana-teina (older, younger relationships).
We are committed to providing an extended family environment that is supportive, trusting, empowers and enhances the holistic way children learn. We believe holistic development provides opportunities for children to strengthen their social skills, physical abiliites and nurture their emotional well-beingWe will foster children’s sense of belonging, self worth and value children’s dispositions.
Kidz Planet Preschool recognises Te Tiriti o Waitangi as a partnership for all peoples of Aotearoa New Zealand. We acknowledge Maori as Tangata Whenua. A muliticultural perspective is woven into our learning culture. We will endeavour to provide equitable opportunities for all children and ensure they are affirmed as individuals.
We will enhance children’s awareness of the natural world, through discovery, exploration and ways to co-exist with our environment.
The programme at Kidz Planet Preschool is child-initiated and the teaching team aims to extend children’s play using their emergent interests to encourage independent exploration and learning. We will enhance children’s creativity through the way they learn. Process – not the outcome. We will foster children’s self-help and social competencies so they will grow into confident and responsible members of society.
